GHOST WRITTER!

Other than being the Executive Assistant II of LGU Polangui, I also serve as a staff of Board Member Herbert Borja (my uncle) I serve as his ghost writer. Below is the speech I made for him to be delivered at Itaran High School Junior and Senior Prom. Kindly comment on it, thanks!

A PLEASANT EVENING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE ACADEME!

To ____________________________, the school’s principal, ___________________________, the PTA president, ______________________________, (other guests), the parents, the junior and senior class of Itaran High School… My salutations again and thank you for inviting me in this wonderful event of yours…

The theme of your JS Prom is such a timely one, we are now amidst political and economic turmoil, and the said turmoil is caused about by improper development of personality. The quest for personality development is such an elusive quest! A seemingly impossible dream! But with the help and cooperation of the academe, the community and the government the quest for quality personality development will be achieved.

This event – JS Prom brings back memories from my high school years – (a romantic or funny story regarding your experience during your high school years).

Before we go further allow me to quote Encarta on its description about personality development – “The study of personality development explores how the distinctive qualities of people develop over life: their characteristic social and emotional dispositions, self-concept, views of the world, and ways of acting and thinking. Personality development is closely related to social and emotional development, but it is also much broader. It encompasses the emergence of a distinctive temperament early in life, growth in self-understanding and identity, formation of personal goals and values, and the influence of one’s adult roles—such as marital partner, parent, and worker.”
“One of the scientific challenges of studying personality development is determining the extent to which personality is based on family upbringing or on genetically inherited dispositions. Certainly, parents influence their children’s personalities in many important ways: in the examples they provide, in their warmth and style of discipline, and in the security or insecurity they inspire. But parents and their biological children are also genetically related, and studies of identical twins raised by different families have concluded that much of the resemblance between parents’ and children’s personalities is based on hereditary similarity. Even so, many characteristics in children are not easily explained by heredity, which makes continued study of the interaction of genes and family influence—nature and nurture—important to developmental science.”

The age bracket of our junior and senior class is the youthful age, the age of the young and the restless. If we don’t develop the personality of our youth, a nation in crisis will be the result. This nurturing of personality is the responsibility of our parents, our teachers and ourselves! As it is written in the Holy Scriptures – Ephesians Chapter 6, verses 1-4: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath; but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

Bringing God as the center of our home, the center of our school, the center of ourselves will serve as a beacon light that will lead us to proper and quality personality development.

Allow me to end my talk by challenging our juniors and seniors – LET US PROVE TO EVERYONE THAT WE ARE INDEED THE HOPE OF OUR MOTHER LAND!

The night is young, the music is inviting, thank you very much again for listening and inviting me…
